Part of the prestigious Sol Melia Group of hotels, the 4 star Hotel Sol Gavilanes has an enviable location built into the cliffs at the eastern end of the bay of Cala Galdana on the central south coast of Menorca. With grounds that front directly onto the wide sandy resort beach, the hotel is approximately 35km west of the capital Mahon and the International Aeropuerto de Menorca airport, and 250 metres from the commercial centre of the resort, where you will find a small selection of bars, restaurants and shops.

Built in 1973 and extensively refurbished during the winter of 2000, the modern Hotel Sol Gavilanes has a total of 346 guest rooms, including 297 standard twin rooms, 9 singles, 29 family rooms and a further 11 Junior Suites, all of which are built over 9 floors, and set amidst almost 10,000m2 of Mediterranean style gardens and sun terraces, around a large central pool area overlooking the magnificent Bay of Cala Galdana.

All guest rooms at the hotel are either air conditioned or centrally heated according to the season, and come equipped with a modern "en suite" bathroom with shower, magnifying mirror and hairdryer, along with a direct dial telephone, ceiling fan, satellite television, mini-bar, safety deposit box available for rental and either a balcony or terrace, most of which have panoramic sea views. In addition to the above features, a daily maid service is also provided, undertaking a change of towels as required and change of bed linen twice a week.

Guest facilities on offer includes a 24 hour reception desk with currency exchange services, and both luggage and courtesy rooms with showers for late departures, along with a choice of 3 air conditioned buffet and à la carte restaurants and snack bars with show cooking, offering a wide variety of dishes including vegetarian options, as well as public internet terminals, a games room and both lounge and pool bars.

For business guests, the Hotel Sol Gavilanes also offers the use of a large air conditioned conference and meeting rooms, with the capacity to seat up to 40 people, which is fully equipped with a selection of modern audiovisual equipment.

Sporting and leisure facilities available to guests includes a large outdoor freshwater swimming pool for adults, with separate children's splash pool, and spacious sun terraces and gardens overlooking the bay which are furnished with loungers and parasols. Other leisure facilities includes a children's playground and mini club, as well as a multi-sports activity area for five a side football and volleyball etc.

Guests staying at the Hotel Sol Gavilanes also have the opportunity to relax and unwind at the hotels' own Spa and Wellness Centre, which features a well equipped cardiovascular gymnasium with Jacuzzi and sauna, as well as offering a variety of other massage and beauty treatments.

The Hotel Sol Gavilanes also provides a seasonal programme of daytime sporting activities, organised each day by their resident animation team, featuring petanque, water polo and aerobics, as well as evening entertainment with a children's mini disco, which is then followed by either live music, cabaret or other professional shows several times each week.
