Cala Blanca Fiesta and Public Holidays

Below are listed the local events, fiestas and public holidays that we are aware of. Most fiestas will normally take place on the same dates each year, however, the programme of events is often not finalised until a few days beforehand:

January 1 New Years Day - Public Holiday
  5 The arrival of the Three Kings and worship of the baby Jesus.
  6 Feast of The Epiphany - Public Holiday
  16-17 Fiesta of Sant Antoni Abat the patron saint of animals. The event begins with the lighting of small bonfires, which the local residents sit around and sing traditional songs and roast "botifarrons", which are locally made blood sausages. The following day there is a colourful parade culminating in the blessing of the animals in front of the local parish church.
March 1 Balearics Day - Public Holiday
Lent   The Carnival Fiestas begin on the Thursday before Lent (Dijous Llarder), and continue until Ash Wednesday (Dimecres de Cendra) with street parades and fancy-dress parties all over the island.
Easter   Traditional processions and parades take place.
May 1 May Day - Public Holiday
June 23-24 Fiesta of Sant Joan in Ciutadella
July   Fiesta of Sant Marti in Es Mercadal: third weekend in July
    Fiesta of Sant Antoni in Fornells: forth weekend in July
  24-25 Fiesta of Sant Jaume in Es Castell
    Fiesta of Sant Cristofol in Es Migjorn Gran: fifth weekend of July or the first weekend in August
August   Fiesta of Sant Gaieta in Llucmacanes: first weekend in August
    Fiesta of Sant Llorenc in Alaior: second weekend in August
  15 Ascension Day - Public Holiday
    Fiesta of Sant Climent in Sant Climent: third weekend in August
  23-24 Fiesta of Sant Bartomeu in Ferreries
    Fiesta of Sant Lluis in Sant Lluis: last weekend in August
September 7-8 Fiesta of Mare de Deu de Gracia in Mao
    Fiesta of Sant Nicolau in Es Mercadal: The weekend after the Mao fiestas
    Fiesta of Cala en Porter: Usually held at the end of the month
October 12 Fiesta Nacional de Espana - Public Holiday
November 1 All Saints Day - Public Holiday
December 6 Constitution Day - Public Holiday
  8 Immaculate Conception - Public Holiday
  25 Christmas Day - Public Holiday
  26 St Stephen Day - Public Holiday
